About the Artist

'The Artist and Contrast Artistry'
William (Bill) Price is a Wilmington-based oil painter and founder of Contrast Artistry. His work explores the harmony of color, emotion and nature through landscapes, seascapes and abstract symbolism, often inspired by spiritual themes such as renewal, compassion and transformation. With a background in sociology and planning, Price approaches art as both an emotional journey and a carefully considered practice, weaving human connection into each canvas. Always mesmerized by 'contrasts' in nature...the sky and deep space...and even in the different personalities and temperaments of people, it was his interest in these contrasts and interactions with life that led him to incorporate them into drawing and ultimately into oil paintings! Some contrasts are intentionally created, while others unintentionally develop as his painting progresses. In either case, in his opinion, contrasts produce a deeper, richer and more expressive painting for all to explore!
Born and raised in a small family in the Midwest during the 1950's, he had a love for drawing and would draw on anything that was available. But it wasn't until 1995 that he actually completed his first oil painting...thanks to channel surfing on the television and discovering a program called "Joy of Painting", and a dude with an afro named Bob Ross! He has come a long way since then as a self-taught artist, and invites everyone to visit him in his studio in Wilmington, NC, at theArtWorks village complex.
He has been featured in "The Daily News" Jacksonville, NC and his paintings displayed in prominent public spaces such as The Speaker of the House Office in The North Carolina Legislative Building, the Chamber of Commerce in Swansboro, NC, an Historic Bed and Breakfast, Wellness Centers in Wilmington, NC, and in homes across many states.
His passion is, "For viewers to make an emotional connection with art and be reminded of their own story or life journey!"
May you find Peace in your life journey!
